Jacaranda is a genus of 49 species, a handsome tree of medium height, has 18 species, grows in drained soil tolerates drought and loves sunny locations, ample watering. The name is used as the common name, is believed to be of Guarani origin. The leaves are bipinnate in most species, are cut into tiny segments. The fruit is an oblong to flattened oval capsule, a dun dehiscent, flat woody capsule. The genus differs from other genera in the Bignoniaceae, is divided into two sections, thrives in full sun. Species are grown as ornamental plants throughout the subtropical regions.
