Cycas - Type genus

Cycas are the type genus, a only, ancient genus of trees. Species form branched distinct, unbranched trunks in some species, are accepted. The caudex is surrounded by the cylindrical, persistent petiole bases. The leaves are in persistent, brown colour in protective function. Endosperm haploid derived from the female gametophyte.
