Abbey Park is a public park in Leicester, has housed the offices Since 2010, studios, was opened in April 1932. The park includes the archaeological sites of the Abbey, was called Abbey Park, the site, has won the Green Flag award, a national award and was the site of an annual flower show. Leicester town council bought of marshy ground between the River. Paths were laid out across the grounds, lead from the main circuit path around the park perimeter. The Abbey Park Festival was an annual music festival. The Abbey has been the site of training excavations. The area registered is c 40ha, was a botanical garden in 1890, occupied by Abbey Park. Competition to design Abbey Park, to choose a design for the new park. Architect James Tait was employed to design the Pavillion, lodges. The Abbey ruins contain a memorial, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey.
